Freyelli is a collection of original painted and freehand machine embroidered textile art, and beautiful homeware.

Ellie Hipkin lives in Brighton with her husband and two small children. Her artwork is inspired by her family life living in Brighton, and the beautiful scenery along the South coast and the Sussex South Downs. She started her textile artwork about 5 years ago after having her first child, mainly as a hobby. However, when her daughter was 1 year’s old she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. With the extra care that she needed she knew she couldn't go back to her old job, so Ellie started painting and making to sell. Now she has an amazing little business making what she loves, beautiful textiles. The name Freyelli is a mixture of Ellie's name and her daughter's, because of Freya Freyelli was started, life can take you in unexpected directions!

Ellie studied Fashion Design at Nottingham Trent University and subsequently worked in the fashion industry for 12 years before she started her textile artwork. Her time working as a fashion designer saw her travel extensively across the globe, the plethora of cultures she has experienced have strongly influenced her current work. Through the subtle use of textile print, embroidery, embellishment and hand painted techniques, her work brings to life the natural beauty and family life on the South coast and Sussex Downs. She mainly works with hand painting onto canvas, cottons and silks. Also adding mono printing with flowers and plants creating a unique look to each piece.

Ellie also uses freehand machine embroidery to embroider local scenes in a very linear and monochrome style, giving detail and atmosphere. Which also lends itself to commission work. Ellie makes personalised artwork of homes, wedding venues, or businesses. She can also print photographs onto fabric and turn them into a unique pieces of textile artwork.
